Sure, your countertop, sink, floor and fridge drawers are on your regular cleaning checklist, but when was the last time you cleaned your knife block? We wouldn’t be surprised if you say never. But think about it — the knives you use to chop up veggies each night go back and forth from that thing daily. Sure, they’re clean when you stow them away, but dust and other debris can start to accumulate in even the tiniest spaces.
When tapped with this unexpected ask, our cleaning guru, Heloise, was delighted: “I love this question — no one has ever asked it before!”
Her simple advice: First, try sucking out any crumbs or dirt using the crevice tool on your vacuum cleaner. You can also aim a hair dryer at the slots, on the highest-speed setting, to blow any crud out. Last resort: Get a 12-inch pipe cleaner and work gently to insert it into each slot; swirl it around there to collect dust and grime.
And if you’re this diligent, we can probably safely say that, yes, now your kitchen is spotless.
